Waylaid by Paintcans

I’m supposed to be working on a quilt for my aunt, whose birthday is at the end of this month.  It’s nice and simple (Woven Ribbons block).  I’ve got the top almost all pieced, and my mother is going to do the hand-quilting (for the main reason that I can’t hand-sew a straight, even line to save my life.  Machine, yes.  Cross-stitch, yes.  Hand sewing?  Uh, no.)

But I’ve been waylaid by paintcans.

I’ve spent the last 5 days painting a mural in my daughter’s bedroom at my folks’ place in West Virginia.  My parents named each of the rooms for one of the places we’ve lived. The Punkin’s room is the Northwest room (we lived in Washington and Oregon). The big mountain you can barely see up at the top is supposed to be Mount Rainier.

Northwest

I’m rather proud of how it’s turning out, considering this is my first mural ever. This isn’t the finished product–the dogwood’s already been painted over since it just didn’t fit in with the rest of the picture.

Needless to say, I’ve not gotten much work done on the quilt. Nor on any blogging ventures. Or anything else for that matter.  I’m hoping to have this done tomorrow (though I’ve been hoping that for the past 4 days).  When I do finish it, I’ll post some better pictures of the finished product.
