Review: Valuations Software

This week I bought a CD called Valuations, by Mosaic Quilts Studio. Supposedly, it was this miracle program that would make fabric sorting oh-so-much better. It claimed you could:
Sort your fabrics the easy way by scanning them into your computer, then using this software to sort and print them out in color. It’s a great way of creating a visual fabric collection to take shopping or when you’re in the quilt planning stages.

Sounds great, right? Getting all those fabrics neatly arranged would be wonderful.

Well, this software does sort your fabrics…from light to dark only.

That’s right. It doesn’t sort by colors. Nor can you add or subtract fabrics without having to resort the entire collection. As for printing the fabrics out in color? I could have done that easily enough from Word.

The packaging says go to the website for more details. I went, hoping there was something I was missing to make this do more than it seemed to do. But the website was no help at all. All it had was the same info that was printed on the software package, and in the catalog.

I guess the program does exactly what it says it does–sorts your fabrics by value. But for $39.99 plus s/h I was expecting a heck of a lot more. Right now I’m feeling more than a little peeved. If I thought I could send it back, I would. I could have used that $40+ for something a great deal more useful–like more fabric.

I apologize for using the comment function to contact you but I could see no way. Your work is beautiful.

I would like one time permission to use an image of Midnight on Cave Mountain for a forthcoming post on qazse.com regarding the mining industry in West Virginia.

The image would be credited to your site with a link to it.

Thank you for your consideration.
