Original design inspired by three traditional blocks–Yankee Puzzle, Green Mountain Star, and Virginia Reel–and a bit of my personal history. My husband is from New York (Yankee Puzzle). I’m originally from Vermont (Green Mountain Star). But we met down in Virginia, and spent many of our first dates contra dancing (Virginia Reel).

This original design only looks difficult. I love the look of Celtic knotwork, but am not a big fan of curved seams or applique. This is a lovely compromise, using only squares and half-square triangles.
